Drawing inspired by design

For an individual project in drawing class, I was inspired by design , and specially 3d. However, the drawing i did of a butterfly in a "cubic" way , is mostly inspired by design with the organization of the different geometric forms.
The dimension of the drawing is only 2.5 by 3.5 inches (it was a trading cards project, the size is approximately the same as baseball cards).

Paola Antonelli's speech in TED (2007)

Paola Antonelli is a Design curator working at MOMA( Museum of Modern Art, of New York), she's an architect but focuses more on writing about Design. In her speech , she introduces design in many aspects of life , and emphasizes that it is "art" .
Her speech is very inspiring , specially to design lovers ( like me).
Furthermore, this link should be shared and I think it sends a good message, and a better understanding of design and its role in every aspect of life.
Here is the video you could also watch on the TED website , here is the link: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/paola_antonelli_treats_design_as_art.html

Revolving Design.

Revolving Design is a style of design using photoshop, that goes into 3D and its illusion (not just the tool in photoshop). The work is done by Youhanna Hojeily a graphic designer.
His work is experimental and at the same time introducing new techniques and ideas in using Adobe illustrator CS3 .
Furthermore, the artist has his own blog called Revolvingdesign's weblog , where he explains in detail his experimental study, and provides photos and sketches of it used in his project.
Like many bloggers, it is his space to express himself.
Here is the link to his blog: http://revolvingdesign.wordpress.com/

Fantastic graphic designer!

About three months ago, as I was wasting time on facebook , i was surprised to find something very interesting , even surprising!

It was an invitation to a blog called "amalgam", in one of its meanings is a mixture or combination. When i visited the blog i discovered a real mixture , Maya Zankoul the blog creator, is a young Lebanese graphic designer. She makes comics (using illustrator) to criticize people's actions. Of course, being comics, her sketches and stories are filled with humor.
Her idea became a success ,as more and more people visit her blog , and like her ideas. She also published a book with various comics , that was in the top 5 books in Virgin Mega store Lebanon.

The funny thing is, Maya Zankoul used to be in the same school i was in , in Saudi Arabia.
I think she's FANTASTIC!
Check it out!
Welcome!
In this blog , you could find a variety of new design ideas, and how artists influence and send messages to people by it.
